CAKE SMASH

Cake Smash photography is a popular part of your 1-year-old’s birthday celebration. We are now even doing older kids, up to 5 years or so, possibly holding a cupcake with a candle! Your 1-year Cake Smash Session can also include tub-time photos a the end, in our beautiful, antique wash basins!

THEME

We provide the balloons and the 5″ round cake if you would like what we call our “basic cake” – see examples below! We also provide most of the outfits you see – but not all. You are welcome to bring outfits you know will look good and then we can choose what to use at your session together. We can create a brand NEW theme for your shoot if you prefer. We typically charge a $50 Creative Fee for brand NEW themes, but if we already have what is needed, then there is no need for the additional fee.

John and I create all of our sets from scratch – usually with a little help from our friends at Hobby Lobby, Michaels, and various vendors we find online. The themes we create for you are similar to what you see on our website, but not exactly the same, due to their hand-crafted, custom nature.

A 1-year-old Cake Smash Session is a great way to capture that first birthday with flair! You could do your shoot a few weeks early and use the best photo on the cover of your birthday invitations. Some do it as part of the birthday week celebrations! We will have your edited, high-resolution jpeg images back to you via Dropbox link, 7 days after your session – usually LATE at night, when I get back to my computer for the night shift!

YOUR CAKE

Most of the cakes that we use are custom-made, basic 5″ round cakes that we provide for you as part of your shoot. The vast majority of the cakes shown on our website ARE included in the cost of your session, as are the three cakes above and the three cakes below! A few require you to bring your own upgraded cake, as we no longer provide upgraded cakes. The Session price does remain the same if you do your session with or without a cake.

Three “typical” cakes (shown above) are examples of cakes that are included with your Cake Smash photo shoot.

We do have a contact for a baker who typically makes our upgraded cakes – you can ask your her contact information if you like. An example of an upgraded cake is the Airplane Cake you see in our Themes #220 & #221. A cake like this would be your responsibility to bring to your session. This Airplane Cake costs around $50, but that price would be an additional cost between you and whoever you get to make your cake.

The Cake in Theme #222, with white or light blue frosting, is another example of an included cake that can be used for our Airplane Themes. If your child has an allergy or needs a gluten-free cake, then that cake would not be provided.
